Terms and Conditions for Donations to Beyond Our Gates
Acceptance of Donations
All donations to Beyond Our Gates are accepted at the discretion of the organization. We will only accept donations that align with the mission and purpose of Beyond Our Gates. Donations will not be accepted if they cannot be used in a manner consistent with our organizational objectives.
Types of Donations Accepted
Beyond Our Gates accepts the following types of donations:
- Credit Card Donations: Donations made via credit card are processed securely through our online platform.
- Cash: Cash donations are accepted and can be made through various means, including in-person or online.
- Appreciated Securities: Donations of publicly traded securities are welcomed. Donors are encouraged to contact us for instructions on transferring securities.
- IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): Donations made directly from an IRA (up to the allowable limits) may be eligible for tax benefits and are accepted by Beyond Our Gates.
- Donor Advised Funds (DAFs): We accept contributions from donor-advised funds. Donors should contact their DAF provider for specific instructions on making a contribution.
- Wills, Trusts, and Estate Gifts: Planned gifts, including bequests through wills, trusts, or other estate arrangements, are welcomed and encouraged. These types of donations are subject to review to ensure they are consistent with the mission of Beyond Our Gates.
Financial Security of Donor
Beyond Our Gates will not accept any irrevocable donation, whether it is an outright gift or life-income arrangement, if there is a reasonable risk that the donation could jeopardize the donor’s financial security. We encourage donors to carefully consider their financial situation before making a gift.
Tax and Financial Advice
Beyond Our Gates does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice related to your donation. Donors should seek guidance from their personal financial or legal advisors to ensure their contribution aligns with their financial and tax goals.
Restricted and Special Gifts
Gifts that are restricted or come with conditions (such as donations of real estate, personal property, or contributions from opaque sources) may require additional review and approval before acceptance. This ensures that Beyond Our Gates can meet any special obligations or liabilities they may impose.
Acknowledgment of Gifts
Beyond Our Gates will provide appropriate acknowledgment for gifts received, in compliance with tax requirements. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value will be assigned to any property or services received. Donors will receive a written receipt for all gifts that include the required information for tax purposes.
Respecting Donor Intent
We are committed to honoring the intent of donors regarding gifts that are designated for specific purposes or that are made anonymously. In the case of anonymous donations, we will restrict the disclosure of donor information to only those staff members who need it for the proper management of the gift.
Compensation for Donor Referrals
Beyond Our Gates does not compensate third parties for directing donors to the organization, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or any other arrangement. We are committed to transparency and integrity in our fundraising practices.
Changes to Terms
These terms and conditions are subject to change at the discretion of Beyond Our Gates. Any changes will be posted on our donation page. Donors are encouraged to review these terms before making a donation.
